The Interdisciplinary Studies major offers an opportunity for students to acquire a broad liberal arts education. It is designed specifically for students who want to take courses in a variety of fields rather that concentrate on a specific major.
The first two years introduce students to the traditional areas of higher education. By the junior year, students select two fields of concentration for an Interdisciplinary Studies degree. Students also explore issues of interdisciplinarity for their graduate portfolio.
The Major offers students a high degree of flexibility in educational interests while at the same time requiring them to acquire competence in the methodologies and knowledge of two fields or disciplines, thus deepening their studies of these fields. With depth of study and access to two disciplines, students are well prepared for graduate or professional schools, as well as a host of careers.
